Ergo-TIPS: Workstation Ergonomics Assessments

The Problem:

Most workers who spend significant hours of their working day on a computer will suffer aches, pains, or discomfort that, if left unchecked, can lead to more serious problems.

The costs include:

·          Musculoskeletal injuries constitute approximately 63% of all injuries,

·         The potential need for expensive intervention

·         Lost time injuries accompany a host of issues for the business

·         Personnel working with discomfort or pain, becoming restricted and less productive

·         Increasing worker’s compensation premiums

·         Retraining, or temporary/fill in staff

The Solution:

Have the worker’s workstation ergonomically assessed if they report issues, if you are concerned about the suitability of their equipment, or if staff have specific needs, prior injury or current conditions.

The TIPS consultant will educate and adjust the workstation on the spot, providing a full report to management of what was done and any further recommendations. Most often, new equipment is not required, so it’s extremely cost effective

Benefits:

·         Clinical discussion of any pain issues the worker has

·         Worker’s postures and interaction with their workstation is made more comfortable and anatomically correct

·         Worker fully understands the ergonomics and adjustments made

·         Workers are educated on strategies, including stretches, to use through shift to decrease fatigue

·         Worker starts to focus on their behaviours, personal attributes and obligations

·         Assessments can be done individually as required, or in small or larger groups.
